Dr. Francine Chen is a staff research scientist on the Carbon Neutrality team within the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Dr. Chen's research interests are in applied machine learning, especially for applications related to analysis, prediction and mining to help humans more easily understand and use information in text, images and other types of data.

Previously, Dr. Chen was a principal research scientist and led the Enterprise AI group at FX Palo Alto Laboratory; and prior to that she was manager of the Quantitative Content Analysis area at PARC.

Dr. Chen received an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
