Dr. Yiting Liu

Director, Automated Driving Systems Platform

Dr. Yiting Liu is Director, Automated Driving Systems Platform in the Automated Driving Advanced Development division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Her work supports TRI's research mission by building the platforms, infrastructure, and engineering capabilities that enable advanced automated driving systems to move from research into scalable real-world deployment. In this role, Dr. Liu contributes software architecture expertise, modern tooling practices, and deployment strategies to help elevate engineering rigor and enable impactful research at scale.

Prior to joining TRI, Dr. Liu was a senior manager at Woven by Toyota, where she led the development of software platforms and built infrastructure for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). She previously served as a senior staff engineer at NIO on the ADAS platform team and spent over a decade as a technical leader at Cisco, driving innovation in high-performance switching systems. During her graduate studies, Dr. Liu was part of The Ohio State University and participated in both the DARPA Grand Challenge and Urban Challenge.

Dr. Liu earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from The Ohio State University. She has been a dedicated contributor to the research community for more than 15 years, serving as a reviewer and associate editor for conferences organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS).
