Dr. Matthew Hong

Research Scientist

Dr. Matthew Hong is a research scientist on the Future Product Innovation team within the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) division at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). His research focuses on bringing a human-centric lens to the design and development of AI-based technologies. 

Prior to joining TRI, Dr. Hong was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington where he led research on providing feedback on nonverbal communication behaviors to mitigate implicit bias.

Dr. Hong holds a Ph.D. in human-centered computing from Georgia Tech, master's in human-computer interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, and B.S. in cognitive science from UC San Diego.
