Yanxia Zhang is a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist in the Machine Assisted Cognition team at TRI. Her area of expertise lies in inventing novel data-driven technologies to sense and understand human behaviors.
Previously, Yanxia worked as a research scientist at FX Palo Alto Laboratory, focusing on vision-based activity recognition. And, prior to that she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Pattern Recognition & Bioinformatics Group at TU Delft in the Netherlands and KTH in Sweden. She received her PhD degree in Computer Science from Lancaster University, where she was also a Marie Curie research fellow. While in Lancaster, she investigated novel video-based gaze estimation techniques and the use of eye tracking for detecting dementia and health monitoring.
