Emily Sumner is a Research Scientist on the Machine Assisted Cognition team at TRI. Emily researches how AI can help humans become more curious and make good decisions.
Prior to joining TRI, Emily was a postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley where she conducted research on curiosity and social influences on exploration. Emily has her PhD in cognitive sciences from UC Irvine where she studied decision making and risk taking across the human lifespan. Emily has also written and reported pieces for the NPR show The Loh Down on Science on pandemic science and science in general.
